REID- Elsie Virginia Brewer Reid, age 87, of Loganville passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Bauer and Lamar Reid and her parents, Ludie and Tom Brewer. She is survived by her 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Denise Bauer Forrester & Steve of Avondale Estates; Lana Bauer Eden & Glenn of Marietta; Cecelia Bauer Hamrick & Gordon III of Avondale Estates; and Elsie Bauer Panter & Harry of Good Hope; Grandsons: Edward Forrester, Dan Forrester, Charles Eden, Gordon Hamrick IV, Harrison Panter, III. Granddaughters: Jenn Harkins, Blake Emerton, Kathleen Llorente, Virginia Cook; and 10 Great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law: Inman & Ann Brewer of Loganville and niece Pam & Ben Evans and many more beloved cousins. Virginia Reid was born in Gwinnett County in 1923. She grew up in Loganville on Tom Brewer Road and was a member of Corinth Christian Church in Loganville. She attended Southern Business University in Atlanta and worked for Gulf Oil. She married Corporal Edward Bauer and had 4 daughters. After her 4th daughter was born, Edward Bauer passed away in Charleston, S.C. She moved back to Decatur, GA to restart her life with a new job with 4 children. There were many difficult times but she knew the Lord would help her through it. She married Lamar Reid in 1955. Virginia was a very active member of Oakhurst Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA where she raised her children. She moved to Avondale Estates where she was an active member of Columbia Presbyterian Church and the Avondale Community Club. She catered for weddings, parties, banquets, made floral arrangements, and was the lunchroom manager/dietitian for 22 years for 5 schools in the City of Decatur Schools where she retired in 1985 from Renfroe Middle School. She was well known for catering the retirement banquets for the school system and started the satellite program where food was cooked at one school and taken to other schools. After retiring, she returned to Loganville and Corinth Christian Church. She had many dear friends and precious memories in that church. Her love was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always so proud of her family and loved cooking and entertaining for the holidays. She is with the Lord and her husbands in eternity. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 670 Tom Brewer Rd. Loganville, GA 30052. 770-466-1544. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2010 at Corinth Christian Church, with Minister Don Hardison and Minister Lester Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Memorial Gardens. Flowers accepted or memorials can be made to Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Hwy 81 SW, Loganville, GA 30052.
